Randy's favorite chord

Post by RR-ElectricAngel »

I was curious about Don Airey's explanation of Randy's favorite chord from an interview discussed here in one of these general topics. He is quoted as saying the following:

"I remember his (Randy's) favorite chord, which was one in the film Carrie, when the hand comes out of the grave - we'd play that bit of the video over and over again."

I tried to find out what this chord is: Play these notes as follows;

C(middle)-F#(augmented 4th lower)-F#(octave higher)-D#(minor 3rd lower)-C(first note you played) and then back to F#(augmented 4th lower) or simply the 2nd note you played.

This chord has a diminished sound to it, something Randy deeply loved and even told Joe Holmes (one of his past students and who also played with Ozzy) to study. Very cool indeed...

Randy's fave chord in my opinion is A. He used that in Ct, IDK, Tonight.
When Randy Rhoads Died, I think A Piece Of Everyone In Town Died With Him...
