Hello all, great board you've got here. I've been over at .tk for about 6 years now, but just recently signed on over here. Looking forward to talking RR with you all!
Anyway, Last night I was laying around & stumbled across VH1's "100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs". It has been updated since they did this a few years back. For example, they spoke about Kevin Dubrow's passing when they profiled "Cum On Feel The Noise". Also of interest to us was the fact that they gave Rudy Sarzo & Zakk Wylde & Ozzy lots of camera time commenting on various songs.
Of course I was waiting for "Crazy Train" wanting to see if they'd speak about Randy. It finally came on in at #20. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised by how much time of the segment they spent talking about Randy. They started the segment off playing the "Tribute" version complete with the video, and spoke about Randy being the original guitarist in Quiet Riot and how he helped Ozzy turn his career around after being fired from Sabbath. A few still images of Randy were shown (like the famous Tribute cover shot) along with a few clips from After Hours. Ozzy and Zakk spoke in different clips about Randy, and also Geezer & Tony from Sabbath made some nice comments as well. VH1 spoke about the crash, and even included an image of a newspaper headline from 3/20/82. It ended by showing the recent performance w/ Zakk on the Jimmy Kimball show.
All in all a very nice segment not only on the song but on Randy as well. Always good to see him getting the respect he deserves!!!
New Randy Clip on TV last night!!
