Can't answer that one, that's just what it kind of looks like, I know I read somewhere that Randy also had a Peavey Backstage (I think), but that looks more like a channel switcher for a Fender. At any rate that is such a cool shot of Randy, does anyone know what year that picture was taken?

I wonder where that earlier version of Randy's pedalboard ended up? What year was that picture taken?

Thanks!
I find it always a bit odd that his wah was connected at the end. (instead of first in signal chain)
I don't own a wah myself but it can be interesting to try it out.

Looks to me he just used the distortion+ with a wah, echoplex and maybe a flanger-can't tell from the picture-BUT He used a Peavey amp with a big old cabinet for QR-no marshalls-only used them during Ozzy..Theres pics of the peavey somewhere on here-The button in front of the distortion+ is for the echolplex-it also adds some gain factor for his sound-Ed VHalen used the echoplex for that reason also..

Yeah, hence also the mxr 10 band EQ is not there.
I think he start using the mxr EQ for some extra clean (mid) boost when he switched to Marshall amps. Probably because the mxr dist+ doesn't have that much output. I think he needed a bit more output to kick his Marshalls into the sound he wanted. I think in his QR time he got his sound more from his pedals apposed to let the amp create the sound when using Marshalls.
