I checked this out, and to me, it just looks like old men reliving their past. I'd like to see all these old bands simply retire. If you didn't get to see them in their heyday, then you didn't get to see them. The current generation needs to focus on the bands of their generation, or the next generation won't have any bands to enjoy. Rock and roll can and will die if we don't promote the youth involved in the movement.

I don't think these guys want to retire. The old school of metal players are very much wanting to soldier on. I was surprised when KK Downing decided to call it a day. But people like Ozzy, Lemmy, Dave Meniketti, Rob Halford, etc. They'd be lost without the music and the love of being on stage. I think some bands do it as a job and others would rather do it for the love. The money is always a blessing. I was surprised to hear in a recent interview that Geddy Lee is not enjoying the touring as much as he did in his younger days. Maybe Rush are ready to retire ?.

I agree, they don't want to retire.

Have you ever watched pro wrestling? There are guys in wrestling who were very good at what they did and rose to the top of their field only to destroy the legend they created by hanging on too long. Instead of younger fans revering them, they are seen as pathetic. It's sad to see someone work hard for so long only to be laughed off by not retiring when they should.

Brett Farve was one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks ever, but he tarnished his legend by holding on too long.

There comes a time when it's time to retire. Of course change is an alternative. If 'the music' is so important, play a different style more suited to old men. I honestly thing most guys hang on because they don't know what else to do or they feel that they won't matter to anyone if they don't stay onstage.

All around it's sad.

Wrestling is for kids, who can take them seriously its pure drama in a tight fitting ridiculous outfit. Paul how can you even compare those characters to some of the classic rock idols i mentioned. It'll be a sad day when Rush retire i just hope they've got a few more tours on the clock they are a band who just get better.

Dave Meniketti? Classic Rock Idol?

Regardless of how you feel about wrestling, the point remains. Most aged rockers only hang on because they don't know what else to do or the blew any money the had.

Blue Oyster Cult was my favorite band as a teen (even in the hair metal '80's), but seeing Eric Bloom and Donald 'Buck Dharma[/i] Roeser continue on the casino circuit is sad to me.

Yes, RUSH is still at it, and sounding great I might add, but they are the exception. Sabbath is touring on their name alone with nothing new to support their tour. KISS does the same thing, so does Van Halen - they put out a 'new' record of songs that they used to play in the clubs.

Does this look like a rock idol or and old man who should pack it up?

Is that Mickey Rourke as the Wrestler ? Well Ace could of looked after himself a bit better. I've stepped over better dressed tramps in back lanes. All he needs is a bottle in a brown bag and he'll have the full set. LOL!! I mentioned Meniketti because he's soldiering on after band members have died and he tours the UK every year. The band are still knocking out a great set and getting good reviews. When they start to grey old and don't look the part yeah i see your point. But if they can do a good set and win the crowd over. Good luck to them.
