What Sabbath song you wanted to played by Randy also?

Post by The Flying Dutchman »

Randy did a great job with Iron Man, COTG & Paranoid.

But if I could choose one other Sabbath song played by him it would be Sympthom of the Universe. 8)

Heaven and Hell... Don't worry I'm kidding. Hmmm, although Symptom of the Universe would be very cool to hear with Randy I'd have to go with Megalomania. It's one of my favourate Sabbath tracks.

I would have loved to hear Snowblind but 'Symptom' has a killier riff which has a lot of randy about it...imho

Dutch.....I agree completely! "Symptom of the Universe" is an excellent choice. There are sooooo many Sabbath tunes that Randy would have TORE UP. I remember seeing him absolutely REINVENT "Children of the Grave"....My God......my brain was already swelling out of my ears with the display he had already put on ONLY to have what remained of my face scorched to a crisp by what he did with that song........unfuckingbelieveable.   8) 8) 8)

if I could go back to when Randy joined Ozzy ...
I'd try and forbid them to play Paranoid and Iron Man.
Sure they are classics but damn they are boring.
Not even Randy could save those :?

Stiltzkin.......What I thought was so cool about Randy's version of "Iron Man" and "Paranoid" was the sheer HEAT that he brought to those songs.....as well as what he did with "Children of the Grave". I mean, he just literally poured ROCKET FUEL on those tunes and shoved them down your throat in a LIVE situation. The audience at the time was able to make a CLEAR distinction between the older, crustier Sabbath versions and these new SUPERCHARGED, DRAGSTERIZED versions. It drove the exclemation point home that THIS was the NEW Ozzy.......and with this BADASS young guitar god at his side, his solo career had a virtual lock on success. That is how it seemed to me and many others at the time. 8)

I think Randy could do a better job on Iron Man if he would play that 'bending' intro like Brad did. Could have sound very spectacular with Randy's sound and all the feedback. :)

My Choice(s) would be:

First place tie would be Sabbath Bloody Sabbath/Sympthom of the Universe for sure.

Second - Fluff, he could give it that great classical sound.

And I can see Randy playing a song with the title - Back Street Kids or Rock & Roll Doctor.

Just my thoughts,

Andy
