THE ORIGINAL BLIZZARD OF OZZ 1979-1982

On 10-29-1979 Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, Dana Strum, and Gary Moore rehearsed in Los Angelas, California. Mainly it was rough version (Riffs with guide lyrics) and jams of songs from Blizzard of Ozz, with some Black Sabbath material. No tapes are known to exist from those sessions though.. They used a notebook like this one (I used a $1.00 notebook) to write chord patterns, and guide lyrics. This line-up lasted from 10-29-1979 to 11-4-1979.

The reason is that Ozzy's label, JET Records, would only pay for one American work permit for writing/recording in England. The permit was for Randy Rhoads. Randy flew to England on Thanksgiving, 1979. He got arrested at customs for not having the right documents. They got a bass player, Bob Daisley, and a drummer, Lee Kerslake. A session took place in early 1980 where they recorded a demo of Suicide Solution, No Bone Movies, and Steal Away (The Night). Bob Daisley taped it, afterwards they wrote songs like Mr Crowley, Crazy Train, and Revelation (Mother Earth). Last they wrote the rest of the songs on Blizzard of Ozz. After that they got a session keyboard player Don Airey. They went into the studio from 3-22-1980 to 4-19-1980 and recorded all of the Blizzard of Ozz album. They were mixed at Ridge Farm Studios from 5-5-1980 to 5-20-1980.

The Blizzard of Ozz UK Tour started on 9-12-1980 in Glasgow, Scotland and ended on 10-31-1980 in Brighton, England. The time was right so they recorded another album Diary of a Madman, It included Over The Mountain, Flying High Again, You Can't Kill Rock'n Roll, Believer, Little Dolls, S.A.T.O, and Diary of a Madman. Sadly Bob and Lee were fired before the 1981 Blizzard of Ozz US tour.
RIP
