My latest tribute to Randy
Just wanted to share with you guys a recording i just finished up. It's a cover of Diary of a Madman, with a backing track i found with original bass, drums and Ozzy's vocals. I'm actually very proud of the work i did on this. Might go back and throw in those fills i missed in the bridge. But other than that, i myself am surprised on how it turned out. Lemmy know what you think.
Enjoy

Really nice
My only complaint is that you need to up the volume on the guitars when ozz is singing
Otherwise it's beautifully done

Man I miss the days when a lot of people were thrown up their recordings of themselves playing music. Nice to see some people doing that still. And yes I am guilty of not doing any new recordings.

Sounds really good, great job...
Question....
Did you bother figuring out the harmonic only parts Randy played in the background during the interlude part?

It means so much that yall enjoyed this. I'm thinking of doing more soon since i found more out these backing tracks with the original audio in them.
Hey Shockwave, are you referring to the fill being played every other phrase or so on top of the Emadd2 and Dadd2 chords?
Eb:------------------------|-----|
Bb:--------12--10--8--7--|--8--|
Gb:--------12--11--9--8--|--9--|
Or did you mean the line that flows on top of nearly the entire part using the high e string?
Eb:--3--2-3-0--2-3-5-|--5-5/7-5-3-2-0--|

Nope neither of those, we are both talking about the same section though.Robthewild1 wrote:It means so much that yall enjoyed this. I'm thinking of doing more soon since i found more out these backing tracks with the original audio in them.

I imagine you have the guitar only track from the Guitar Hero rips we all have from a few years ago, if you listen from 2:40 - 4:20 Randy is playing single note open string harmonics behind the entire part. It is only one guitar playing them, but it sounds beautiful once you zone in on it and are able to drown out the rest. Listen to it with headphones you should be able to tell the guitar part I am talking about it. I don't think anyone ever knew it existed until we the got the guitar track only, there was a discussion about it(the harmonic part) then also.
I've always wanted to tab it out but i just never had the time, It's really simple sounding...
From your part above
Eb:--3--2-3-0--2-3-5-
The harmonics play pretty closely with it, maybe note for note even
**EDIT**
Ahhh! So i finally gave it a 10 minute try and I got the main part of it ...Pan left only and you can hear the part really good, it goes something like this this
All open harmonics
Eb:-------|-------------------------------12---------------------------
Bb:-------|-----------7---7--------7----------------7---7----------7--
Gb:-------|-5-----------7-----------------------------7--------------7
Then repeat a couple times...then it does this i think
Eb:-------|-----------------------------------12---------------------------
Bb:-------|-----------7-------------------7----------------7---7----------7--
Gb:-------|-5--------------7---------7-----------------------7--------------7
Then repeat, that plays a couple times then goes back to the beginning, a few other parts to figure out though..

Oh jeepers. I thought my thread got removed at first haha. Been nice if someone told me that it was moved to the correct topic haha. Oh well, good thing is it's still here.
Shockwave. Ill have to take a listen to that, I dont think I ever really noticed that! Sounds like it'd be cool to hear!

Anyway, those harmonic parts you won't be able to hear on the album version i think, you will need to have the isolated guitar parts.
