CLEAN UP THIS SITE

Post by Paul Wolfe »

It seems to me that more and more 'viagra' posts are appearing and no one is bothering to delete them. The SPAM really takes away from the good of this site. Please take some pride in what has been built here and remove the garbage posts.

Ok....WTF has been going on in here lately?? Erectile dysfunction spam, and now live porn snippets when i logged in earlier?? I realize you mod's/admins have a life besides this group, but perhaps at least one of you could take a few minutes each morning or evening to do some monitoring?? I'm an admin on another site, and know most of the in's and out's. If ya'z need a volunteering hand guys, just reach out to me....

Fully agree with you. First we need more involvement from the Admins here to keep this place updated. If they don't have time we need someone else to do that. Maybe you!? One active mod checking here occasionally can't avoid this place to become flooded with spam. (I did in the past, but I'm not gonna put hours and hours into this place only to keep it free from spam while a Admin can do that with just a few simple clicks) And yes, it's a shame how this place looks now......

(pm send to Admin, lets hope he will take action soon)

Thanx Mr. Dutch for answering and the PM follow up. Yes, i always have a bit of time in the morning and evening to to help you guys out if needed. I hear your point, and it must get frustrating at times for you. I always enjoyed this site more than the FB groups out there....the 3 FB groups i'm on won't even let you contribute to the group!! Lol. I guess we'll just wait for an eventual reply my friend ;)

-cheers-

No sign of life from Skezza yet, but I'm sure he will take action when he got the message.
Things are getting really bad now, even the performance of this place is going downhill.
I try to keep this thread 'clean', first I couldn't even find it when I logged in because of new SPAM......

Looks like I'll need to disable registrations again. This is going to take me a while to sort out mess wise, leave with me. I'll try to get it sorted tonight.

Yes, I think that's good for now. But I think the board needs to be upgraded too to get the old look back and to avoid new spammers.
I hope you have time for that?

I'll make some time over the next week. I'm currently dealing with a boat load of work :( plus other bits and bobs. Admit I've neglected the site since upgrading it. I didn't realise the spambots are clearly ahead of the game on phpbb3. The only way we can avoid new spammers is to introduce some kind of question system. I'll investigate this as soon as I get chance.

Currently, I'm trying to delete the huge quantities of shit they've left over the site. There's so many that the stored procedures are actually taking down the database for periods while they run. Madness. It'll probably take most of tonight, but if people continue to use the site and spot them, let me know and i'll clean them up.

I don't think our old theme will work with this new software, so we might need to get a new one. I will do some digging.
