Hacks & Viruses

Hi Guys,
Recently, a number of sites including randy-rhoads.com and RR.tk have been hacked and are currently spreading viruses to members and viewers. I just wanted to assure the members and viewers of UR, that I am doing my utmost to make sure that the site is safe from hackers and that dangerous code is kept away.

I am sure that the Admins of all the websites involved are working hard to fix this and I am sure it will not be long before they are sorted.

Thanks,
Joe

it does seem like the RR websites get hacked a lot... i wouldnt expect people to have an interest in hacking what are (in terms of appeal) very small sites.

TK seems to have taken the bulk of the attacks in recent history lets just hope nobody messess with the black pearl

Negative hacks tend to be aimed at sites that piss people off....

To the site (mods and posters)

Any site is defined by the people who run it, and the people who take part. I have said it before, but UR works so well because both are kept on an equal footing.

The Black Pearl rocks!!!

I obviously missed all the viruses... lol. Good to see UR running like a beautiful old Mustang and clean from any crap that might be flying around on the interweb.

RR.tk is having problems again. This may be the same virus as previously implemented, but I have not actually visited it. Keep your anti-virus updated. I did a bit of research the last time it went down and analyzed the injected content. The page was redirecting you using a hidden frame to a malicious PDF virus. It executes in Acrobat. Make sure you upgrade Acrobat ;)

I was going to write this last time, but the guys over their fixed it quick. Just in case its the same virus.
In Addition. IF you visit TK, you need to go into task manager and KILL the process called Acrobat.exe and any other processes related to Adobe. If you already have a PDF document open, close it and make sure you have it saved (if you need it in the future). The other processes may not be infected but I would do it just in case! To do this (close the process) press CNTRL + ALT + DEL or go Start, Run and type taskmgr or taskman. Then click 'Processes' at the top of your window and find the one named Acrobat. If you don't normally turn off your PC, it may be worth doing it anyway.

Please take my advice otherwise without proper security on your router/firewalls/NAT etc, your PC is TOTALLY EXPOSED! to the hackers who implemented this virus.
Just in case they are infected again. There are also redirect viruses on Randy-Rhoads.com, so I would be careful when visiting :) Hopefully the guys will have it all fixed in a day or so.
Joe

I would like to know if any of these attacks are related to our current hacker. It is not mentioned enough at UR that our current attacks were done by a known individual. If there is any information on who or whom it may be than I would certainly like to be updated on what was discovered about these attacks beginning in 2008. Skezza, what do you remember about these attacks?

What kind of notifications wareagle? I have been logged off as well. Not sure if that constitutes hacking though...

The logging off might just be a cookie issue.
