Basically cookies store (supposed) data that will be useful and relevant in the future. That could include search history. On this site, it stores a login session to allow you log back in several times without having to retype your password. If they're set up wrong, you sometimes have to log back in more than normal.

oh, nah i do have log me in auto and it never logged me out until like last week, and it would be sometimes in the middle of me typing something..

Reason 784 why I own a Mac
(oh RELAX PC users, I use one of those too once in a while, I just prefer the Apple because I used to be a graphic designer)
