Talk about musical equipment, guitars, drums, bass, synths anything.

The rings came in the mail yesterday (toggle ring on back order)... the pickups have two screw holes on the top and one on the bottom, so I had to drill a center hole on the top of each to make them fit right with the new rings...

When you say 'no toggle ring', you mean none at all as opposed to the black one that is there now, right?

The difference is subtle, but I much prefer it now with the creme.

Thanks, Nick... it sounds great, too! When I changed the rings I pulled the silver covers off (new debate, with covers or without) to find pristine pickups which are not potted. I've heard that Chinese Gibson copies these days without potted pickups are 'microphonic' and feedback like crazy. I don't play with much volume, so I don't know about the feedback issue with this one, but at comfortable bedroom volume it sounds great. I can finally get pinch harmonics to sound good!

Yes they do feedback like crazy and no the Chinese pickups are not wax poted

But the Chinese Gibson replicas are getting really hard to tell if they are real or not

And the quality is getting pretty good. The only problem I usually have with the guitars of Dhgate.com is the tuners are bad and the pickups are not poted otherwise they are great guitars

Seems like those would be easily rectified issues. Potting pickups is rather simple and replacement tuners are easily obtainable.

I considered a Chinese copy, but then I found this Seville and I'm happy with it. I've never been one to own loads of guitars... in fact, now that I've got this Seville, I'm putting my Strat copy on Craigslist.

Those white rings make a world of a difference. It actually looks quite nice without a pickgaurd, its good to see that not everyone needs a $2,000 Gibson to be happy with their guitar

Don't they?

I tried putting on black knobs and hated the look... the white rings just do it.

Doesn't it! Originally I was looking at pictures of Ace in the early days when deciding about the cream rings, but Ace had a pickguard. Then I looked at the Slash poster in my son's room and I thought, hmmm... and off came the pickguard. Ace removed the pickguard later, too, and swapped out the pickups for DiMarzios...
