Personally I think they should of kept this design it worked with no locking nut
They could of had it in a limited edition run
If I ever got the chance I would buy 1 and take it apart
Why because if I could take it apart and find out how it's made I could probly have someone make parts for my own prototype
BUT I don't think that's happening soon
LOOK At brad gillis he still uses this model on his red strat
And it still stays in tune even after 30 years

Hey RWND, have you ever seen this video? The Floyd Rose isn't necessary if you put in the time to set up a standard trem. However if you want to have a floating trem, a Floyd is a better bet. I personally hate floating trems, so this works for me. He's got a couple videos that go into detail on the hows and whys of Strat trem setup.

that trem will stay in tune no better than a vtrem....it works in exactly the same way. As paul said set up right a vtrem will stay in tune, I have both floyds and Vtrems and they are pretty much the same when it comes to holding tune...I will say the floyd does feel a bit smoother in use than the vtrem...but the prototype one feel pretty much the same as a vtrem

If you got a prototype, why take it apart when you have an already functioning system?

dude its exactly the same as a Vtrem just with saddles that lock the strings in....not much science to figure out by taking it apart

Not to be mean but I understood it the first time
But here's the big question why does Floyd not make these any more I know they are a prototype but they work and to me they look better than what Floyd makes now

you have the answer there, it's a prototype
and prototypes are really just a first draft of a product bound to have some improvements
