Ultimate Rhoads

flash back to the early 90's when the roswell rhoads came out and I HATED it....fast forward 25+ years and guess what..I have serious GAS for one . Wife said you aren't buying anymore bloody guitars ( i have 15 or so) so I said fine...i'll build it myself

i'm using a neck I built for a different guitar that never got made....mahogany w/maple strip and rosewood board (dyed black). Body is basswood and maple pancaked

ok have done a crop circle skeleton back.....not totally sure if I like it but I have glued it on anyway because if i don't end up wanting it I can plain it off

finally an update

Have had some problems along the way.......

The laminate I did for the headstock was to thick so the machine heads wouldn't go through far enough and after sanding it down to the point where they were long enough the wood was to thin and had the potential to snap very easily so what to do.....METAL



now I just have to make sure it isn't sharp so the kids don't severe a limb

next problem was how easily basswood dents ...I spend ages sanding it nice a smooth just for it to get a dent when I sat it on a rough saw horse. So I ended up having to primer it early to harden the surface (worked a treat)




obviously some filling has had to happen after the priming so hopefully it holds in there



now that it has metal on the headstock I am going to have a metal plate where the strings go through the body (that will be painted the same colour as the guitar)

hopefully I can get it painted next weekend to give it a chance to dry for the tronfest....but that is pushing it a bit
