Need some Advice on a Concorde build

Post by camdenlp »

Need some advice on a concorde build.

I've tried contacting a number of people regarding the hardware I'll need to make my concorde tribute, but have hit some dead ends. So, hopefully there are some of you that can help me with my last few questions. I already have plans, just need parts and perhaps a bit of guidance.

I have found the brass bridge, and even have some tuners that are close. I've done my research and know which pickups I want, etc.

I really want THE exact Gotoh tuners though. Can't seem to find them with the drop leg screw tab like the original. Anybody have an idea where I can look?

Lastly, paint choice. If anybody can help me find the right shade of black/blue for the stripes and headstock, I'd be grateful.

I understand there are some who won't disclose because it's like a secret recipe, so to speak. But I just want the best replica possible. I'm not building more than just this one. I just want it done right

:)

Thank you very much. Is there a specific white? Is it poly or nitro? I wanna say nitro would have aged, but Randy's still looks white

yes it seems to still be very white so it may be enamel (pretty sure the one shot is enamel)...if you go one shot then get the white in the same brand and you should be fine

I should add you might want to be a bit careful with what white you go with because I did a tribute one years ago and went a "normal" white and to be honest it was to white....next white I got was slightly off white and looked a lot better

the 1 shot blue has to look black when you are looking at it but at an angle it has to look blue/puprle

thats what randys looked like but it was not just used for the head stock it was also used for the pinstripes too

Well, I haven't gotten the paint yet, but there is some progress to note.

Here is the lovely Maple board that was chosen. Decided against Big Leaf on the wings because I wanted more weight.

Here is the fretboard. Almost completed... I guess the binding over frets is a tedious job...but worth it!

And cut to the most recent progress. Sorry about the gab inbetween, haha. Looks like cavity routing this week, then time for paint!
