I believe there are other areas of this forum to post such things.randy will never die wrote:off topic
Anywho, they probably have special dealers that sell them their paint. I don't personally know, but you can get paint for your guitar just about anywhere that sells hardware and paints.

No, I don't know much about painting a guitar but car paint is not the best option. Try browsing some guitarbuilding related websitesrandy will never die wrote:people say to get car paint

Re: ?????gibson paint?????
depends on what paint
Polyurethane is more durable than nitro and requires
less attention(sanding, buffing etc.) although nitro "ages"
better, like white turning yellow if certain conditions are met

Lacquer-based paint in multiple coats covered by multiple clear coats. Yes, the same paint used to paint cars is what is used. Buy the book from this site would be my recommendation. He's got a LOT of good information.

Wrong.
Auto paint is the best to use with guitars.
I paint all guitars I do with high quality auto paint.

oh and poly also yellows/darkens with expose to sunlight
Re: ?????gibson paint?????
automotive paint does work good... just depends on what kind of color you're after. Visit reranch.com or in the UK there is a company called Rothko and Frost (sp). but if the color is something that you can find an automotive color, do it! I've had good results on a couple strat refins that way.
