I have been told by a lot of people that my own tone too has little treble too etc. I wonder if my ears hear the frequencies differently from the average person. So many people say what you have said about many tones that I have liked as lacking that brightness.
It is the same with Piano. I liked the tone of Welmar Pianos, which instead of being all bright and punchy like a Yamaha upright, are actually quite dull sounding.
I mean dull not in a derogatory sense, but in a descriptive sense. I just love that kind of sonorous dullness LOL, if you get what I mean?:)
On the Piano Chopin has a real ghostliness lacking all the showy brights.
