I would. I'd totally have it another way. At BK. Open late night.

Interesting choice, i hope it serves you well. Is it a current production model or did you get it second hand? I'm unaware of marshall making those at the moment unless you mean this:

i dont think you've got too much of a problem with hiss/hum. It seems to be at a pretty acceptable level for an old valve amp. My valve amp feedsback too, it builds up gradualy all the tme if im plying in the same room as the amp.

its just a quirk you've got to live with, as for hiss maybe ry getting some high quality cables?! im not sure what your using but spending some $$$ on cables is always a sensible investment IMO.

i dont mean to take this thread off topic but i have a question for any users of old marshalls.

i was wondering how you deal with playing lead lines at high volume? I say this because playing at high volume often sounds great for rhythm but playing lead above the 12th fret is too thin given the amps tendency to gett more trebly as its turned up.

What do you reckon is the best way to deal with this? i was thinking of grabbing my 10 band EQ, sucking out the high frequencies and boosting the mids/ bass. But any reccomendations?

Hey Rob,
EQ or not you shouldn't have that problem, I suggest to let it check by a good amp tech. How old is the amp?

My first 4 holer (1959SLPx) sounded thin it the heights as well. Brought it to a tech, he replaced some components (caps) tuned it a bit (biasing the tubes properly) and the animal came alive! 8)

I know you are a young guy, it is great to want to take something from your hero (ofcourse we all love Randy)...

Today at the school I teach, Janet Robin (Randy's only female pupil) gave a masterclass and she stressed a HUGE :) thing in Randy's teaching ethos...
