I took a couple new pics of the rig outside yesterday. I really gotta get a Charvette strat to replace that Squier.lol. guitars>vox 847 wah>Boss sd-1>MXR Dist+('79 model)>Alesis midiverb 2(delay)> Alesis midiverb 3(verb& chorus for cleans)> Marshall jcm800 2204. p.s.- that head is soon to be redone in Anniversary white.

This is my latest... I traded a Squire with a Floyd and Humbucker that I couldn't adjust the neck on for it at the pawn shop. It really plays nicely and sounds great. The frets are taller than I like and I intend on replacing the neck with a maple fretboard from Warmoth eventually... for now, though, it's a nice little axe.
The pickguard is mirrored... didn't like it at first, but it grows on you.

Okay, so I sold that black Squire and my Ibanez bass to pay for the family to go to the fair. The fair is a family tradition and more important than my 'stuff' so it had to go.
The pawnshop guy felt bad and threw in a $50 frankenstrat... after a bit of adjusting, it plays and sounds great. It's part Samick and part Fender Strat. I was shocked that is sounded to good!
I had to remove the neck because the action at the nut was perfect but the action at the other end was nearly double that... a quick shim (and noticing the holes in the neck and been filled and re-drilled to fit this body) and it was good to go. I like the 'relic' look of it, and it's very comfortable... not bad for a cheap axe.

It looked like the thing you could win at the fair by getting a ring to land on a bottle (by the way I tried that at the fair and failed)... it just didn't look like a quality instrument. After I shimmed the neck and plugged it in, I realized the only difference was the neck, I should know better thant to judge a book by it's cover.

Danny, I've never had a neck-thru guitar or one that was professionally set up, so I'm really looking forward to it.
The contest was a kick in the ass that got me focused on specific practice on a daily basis and helped tremendously. I have a really bad habit of getting sidetracked easily and don't focus enough. Since I only play for fun it's really no big deal, but this challenge did wonders.

Stiltzkin wrote: you sure it's a neck-thru? Yes sir... when looking at the strap button on the tail end of the guitar you can see the difference in the wood as the "binding" is actually just a stripe of the natural wood. This is from the Dean site:
