Re: Nikki Sixx & Randy...

I kinds favor the early albums though :) I can't say I would even recognize anything after Dr. Feelgood , which is a very good record. I much prefer Too Fast for Love , Shout at the Devil and Girls, Girls, Girls to anything else they ever did. I question whether Nikki is the songwriting mastermind ...

Re: Ace Frehley/You Can't Kill Rock and Roll

Good coincidence. I'm wondering, since the original working title of this song was, "Floydian" - and I'm guessing that to mean it sounded like a Pink Floyd song, are there any Waters / Gilmour compositions that sound like YCKRNR? I'm thinking this based on Ozzy saying in a past interview ...

Re: Nikki Sixx & Randy...

I've read many accounts of Nikki not being good in the early days... Wouldn't he have been in London in '79? Motley didn't form until '81. Even though he wasn't so good as a bassist, I've heard London packed the house because of their show. So when he says, "I had my own little band," He w...

Metallica

Just watched Through the Never... damn, what a show they put on! The "movie" parts were pretty stupid, but the concert was great.

I saw Def Leppard "in the round" years ago, but this was a whole new level of entertainment.

Well if you liked that then listen to the last song, Angel Theme, at marker 41:53. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3gTjn__Ce0 By the way, I posted this years ago on another forum and Kevin DuBrow commented that Randy was not influenced by Angel. Angel Theme didn't remind me of Randy in any way, sha...

Re: Ace Frehley/You Can't Kill Rock and Roll

By the way, I don't mean that Randy would have been influenced by Ace, I'm sure he came by the chord progression to You Can't Kill Rock & Roll on his own, I just wonder how many KISS songs he learned for his students.

Re: The Official Gear thread !!

Danny, I've never had a neck-thru guitar or one that was professionally set up, so I'm really looking forward to it. The contest was a kick in the ass that got me focused on specific practice on a daily basis and helped tremendously. I have a really bad habit of getting sidetracked easily and don't ...

Re: Not Too Hip

Since I don't check this section often, I missed this! Glad to hear things are looking up, Paul! Isn't it odd how some pain will sometimes make way for a bigger breakthrough? Sorry you had to go through that, but happy to hear that you're walking without a cane! Best of luck getting work and mendin...

Re: Ace Frehley/You Can't Kill Rock and Roll

Never really thought about that before, but you are right... I wonder if Randy ever taught a student that song? He was still teaching in '78 and ACE influenced SO many kids to pick up the guitar.

Re: bark at the moon demos

I always thought Rock n Roll Rebel/i] was a good song, but it's too slow! The version I've got on my mp3 player I sped up on Adobe Audition so it it sounds "right"

I'm hoping to add this to the arsenal within the next month... http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/musical_instruments/detail-page/B001986EPC-1.jpg I was just informed yesterday that I won the Speed and Accuracy challenge by Metal Method so I'll be receiving Dog Marks' Dean Vendetta guitar i...
