Randy was taking classical guitar lessons in England at the time. Those Etudes are a very common set of lessons used in classical guitar lessons. Anyway, Randy was having a lesson when Ozzy happened by and heard him playing that Etude. He walked in and said they should make a song out of it. Randy ...

I liked Bernie's playing and admire the fact that he did his time with no preperation... Jake was good, but Ozzy's was too synth oriented in those days and Jake didn't stand out enough for my taste. Brad was good, but he relied too much on the whammy and kind of ruined some songs that way for me. Za...

Favorite Drummers

I've seen the Favorite guitarist and bassist threads, what about drummers? For me, I like (in no particular order): Randy Castillo - Ozzy (among others) Robert Sweet - Stryper Scott Rockenfield - Queensryche Matt Cameron - Soundgarden/Pearl Jam John Bonham - Led Zeppelin Keith Moon - The Who John De...

What is it about Zakk that you like? My opinion of him will upset some, but it is just an opinion... I think he is an above average, but not great. Technically he can blow away most guys, but just being able to play fast isn't enough. I prefer slower players who have more feeling. Zakk truly is brut...

I've got to also mention "Fast" Eddie Clarke of Motorhead and Fastway.

The first Fastway record is just great, a heavier Led Zeppelin and just a great working man's hard rock band.

The boys from Aerosmith weren't too shabby in their day, either.

Blackmore wasn't Metal though.. Neither was Page... But id go with Iommi. Cause every riff and solo he busted out I loved no matter how simple! Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin paved the way for metal as wee know it. Even Sabbath was basically a loud blues band when they started. The first real metal b...

Bob Daisley
Pete Way
Steve Harris
Billy Sheehan
Geddy Lee

As far as playing, those are my favorites...

As for watching them onstage:

Bobby Dahl
Pete Way
Steve Harris
Kip Winger

Those guys realize a bassist doesn't have to stand at the back of the stage and remain motionless :D

It's funny, I was just thinking the other day about "contacting" Randy. I saw something on TV about a woman who helps people find closure by "contacting" loved ones... I personally don't believe in such things, but I know some people do, so I don't want to knock it. Anyway, I was...

Yeah...c'mon RockyRhoads........I don't think anyone meant to be offensive. Besides...I liked your posts! :? You're right, the offense was not intentional, but I was offended and felt the need to point it out. I'll lighten up, we'll all have a good time and that'll be that. By the way, thanks, I'm ...

Y'know, I realized what day it was, but rather than dwell on the sadness, I listened to Schenker, Be Bop Deluxe, Mott the Hoople and Alice Cooper and Savage Grace instead of Randy today... I figured I'd concentrate on his influences and try to apply them to my playing today rather than dwell on what...
