Re: Most Under-Rated Randy Song?

For me its easily S.A.T.O., not only do I think its the most under-rated, but it may be my most favorite Randy Rhoads song ever.

Re: How do you like them pickups?

I will admit I am a bit biased to this guy, but the new Suhr Doug Aldrich pick-ups are just the bomb in a Les Paul, just a fabulous sounding pick-up (both the bridge and neck model) I recently starting playing both a Schecter Solo 6 Custom and a Standard and I like the Seymour Duncans that are in th...

Re: Zakk 1988

In defense of Gus, he really hasn't had a chance to show much of himself with Ozzy. He didn't write any of the last record and when you have a guitar lineage like Ozzy's to live up to, its kind of tough to put your stamp on it without something of your own. Zakk's NRFTW/NMT rhythm tone is one of the...

Re: Long Time / Little Dolls - similarities

I think the bigger similarity would be between Tom and Randy's recording techniques, Tom to me is kind of the father of multi-tracked guitars and Randy was maybe the best at doing that in the studio. Their recorded tones have always reminded me somewhat of each other but Randy's playing was always a...

Re: Don Airey Interview

Not to diminish anyone's contributions but (and I think I said this in a post not to long ago), nobody will ever make me believe that anyone other than Randy was responsible for the guitar parts on those 2 records. I think the most important person as far as helping him was Max Norman and that has m...

Re: Jake E. Lee w/ Randy's Guitar?

There was also a picture of Jake holding this guitar (or one like it) in the very first Guitar World (I believe) interview I saw with Jake. It wasn't really a long interview, maybe a page long profile of Ozzy's new guitar player, and the picture was in black and white. Not even sure BATM had been re...

Re: Is it possible?

If you take it to a quality luthier, and I would suggest one who works for one of the major guitar manufacturers (Gibson,Fender/Jackson, PRS, Schecter), you will not have issues with cracking paint jobs, filling holes, etc. I have had several guitars modified by the guys at Peavey and never had any ...

100 percent with you on this Paul. Great player with his own voice and like you said, you get the feeling that he really enjoys what he does.

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

The thing that I've always tried to carry with me from Randy's approach, is the way he multi-tracked his guitar parts. He is probably the best ever at doing that and not only double and triple tracking parts but layering parts that seem to be contrary to each other to make a bigger guitar sound. He ...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

Its almost like Vivian just quit playing, I saw him on the 87 Whitesnake tour and he just annihilated Adrian, I mean just mopped the floor with him, and then I saw him with the Lep's on the Euphoria tour and I couldn't believe the change in him. He was the only reason I went to that show and it was ...

I agree 100 percent with what you're saying Matt, my best friend James (who is also a guitar player) and I call it "grease", you know you can cook all healthy and that's okay but if you really want it to taste good you gotta add some "grease" to it, lol!!!! (Hey I grew up in the ...

Al is maybe the first guitarist I was aware of who was extremely proficient at alternate picking, just an awesome player. The live album he did with Paco and John Mclaughlin is off the hook great!!
