John Sykes and Mike Portnoy

According to Eddie Trunk the material these 2 have recorded sounds like a cross between 87 Whitesnake and the first Blue Murder record, this could be REALLY great!!!

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

Apples and Dinosaurs, I Love It!!!!! That's actually probably a great analogy of those 2 players, don't get me wrong, I prefer Randy's songwriting in spades over Paul's. Paul has a great love of 70's pop music which shows up in alot of his solo material, I don't really care for it myself. From a pur...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

Hey Matt, It's been awhile. Not saying Paul sounds like Randy other than their right hand technique is similar to my ear and that they have an interesting tie (the seminar). As far as Paul musically, if you listen to the whole volume of Paul's work, there is a broad spectrum that he covers, in some ...

Re: On Bob and Lee's input

I spent a year researching a subject with the out come to publish a book. I really hate you had this happen to you but I have to ask, if you knew you were going to publish a book why did you share any of your research with anyone? That's really just asking for it you know. Again, I don't think ther...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

[ quote="Cpt Matt Sparrow"]Interesting comparison! do you mean more the Quiet Riot type writing/playing than the Ozzy material? I can see more of a link there with Whitesnake personally.A lot of people you wouldn't suspect have tipped a hat to Randy, even Ritchie Sambora gives a credit to ...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

By the way, the guitar in my avatar picture was one of Adrian's personal guitars and one of only 2 bolt-on neck Vandy's done with a maple fretboard. is it black and the lights make it look purple/pink???......either way a bloody nice guitar that has given me gas for a long time now  There was ...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

I am guessing that is not an original Vandenberg but a V-type re-issue, Peavey didn't even do any prototype hard-tails for Adrian and the only Rosewood Fretboard guitars were the quilt tops which all had a quilt maple top (none were done in black). The V-types are nice guitars also, if I remember ri...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

[ quote="shred1"]Loved the roto-toms on the 1st Vandenberg album. Super good player for sure. Ditto Doug Aldrich. Really enjoyed the Manic Eden LP too. There was an original issue, all bound, black neck-thru Peavey Vandenberg at a local pawn shop recently for under $200 bucks.... Went back...

Re: Adrian Vandenberg and Randy

Adrian was a different player after his injury which occured prior to recording "Slip of the Tongue", he just didn't hit strings as hard as he did when I saw him in 87 and he played alot different to me than he did in Vandenberg. I have the Live from Donington dvd and highly suggest it to ...

Re: 2 and a half unreleassed songs (Randy)

So how many long time fans who already own BOO and DOAM, most likely on vinyl, CD and maybe cassette, would have raced out to spend over $100 to buy them again? The main marketing catch cry of the box set was clear as day light....."see unreleased, never bootlegged, footage of Randy Rhoads&quo...

Re: 2 and a half unreleassed songs (Randy)

[ quote="shred1"]Rokket, your comments are very valid. It is clear who is running/directing the Elvis estate, the Lennon estate and even the Hendrix estate. Who is looking after the Rhoads estate, in a BUSINESS sense? I am not sure. This is MY speculation here but, I am sure we would wince...

Re: 2 and a half unreleassed songs (Randy)

When it comes to people saying others are making money from the Rhoads legacy, is it any different to say Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, John Lennon/Beatles, or people like Jim Morrison/Doors, or Stevie Ray Vaughn........any "unreleased tracks/video footage" is unique, and if those people were aliv...

Re: Crowds Reaction

The thing I like most about Brad on SOTD is his guitar tone, it just killed on that record!!! Brad is a cool guy to from all accounts and he handled an extremely difficult gig very well.
