Gary Moore had an awesome tone when he was doin the heavy stuff .. at that crossover period when he went to the blues and did that "still got the blues " that was the worst guitar tone , it was thin and shrill and had that awful over processed late 80's early 90's metal tone . YUK !!

I agree for the most part with both of the previous posts , but i do believe from experience of working with many "pro" guitar players , that if they were to play ONE note on another players rig .. one note without any inflection ie: vibrato , bends etc it would have the sound of the amp ,...
