Re: New Kelly Garni Interview

Because she is up Kelly's ass Kelly is trying to fix his name at the moment and she is his personal agent. Perry you did no wrong..I'm sure you would have preferred the the money Kelly made off your creation. You are just another fan/person manipulated for profit. Before you... he was perusing some...

Re: New Kelly Garni Interview

Re-imburse?! For what? First I want everyone to be clear...the Bass Did NOT sell for $125,000.00 at least not from Kelly to Ed Roman, who passed away last year...not even close. I know this because the checks were made out to Me. 2nd thing is aside from the actual cost of the bass which Perry himse...

Re: New Kelly Garni Interview

Just out of curiosity, did that project help bring you more business? I would certainly hope so- I believe that everything happens for a reason. You made a beautiful one of a kind instrument, in memory of a musician that was equally as beautiful and one of a kind- surely there has to be something t...

Re: would gibson ever do this

Gibson have made 'fenderish' single coils. They used them in Melody Maker guitars, the Nighthawk, etc. P90's are single coils too, but are constructed differently, and have a lower, wider coil than Fender pickups (and approx 20% more windings), so therefore sound very different. The wider coil gives...

Re: New Kelly Garni Interview

Perry out of curiosity how much did the bass cost Kelly, or was it a freebie ?. After all your effort and to take time out to deliver the guitar to Kelly from Australia. Kelly paid $0 The bass sold for $125,000 Kelly had every right to do as he pleases, with the bass, and with the money. It was his...

Re: New Kelly Garni Interview

It was me that made the bass. It was a dream come true to be part of it. I put my heart and soul into the instrument, and nearly went bankrupt doing so, both shutting down the business to build it over 5-6 weeks, paying a film crew to document the whole process in HD, and flying out to the USA to de...

Re: New Kelly Garni Interview

Interesting interview and a few points that got mentioned which make me think :? . The Ormsby bass which had Randy's thumbnail inside. He decided to sell it because of the risk of it being stolen. Well all the years he had the thumbnail in his home. He had fans invited to his house and he would sho...

Re: Rhoads Pickups

well, for one thing, the Super Distortion was design to distort the guitarsignal to the amp in an early stage, since most players back then were using non-master Marshalls which would only get LOUD AS HELL when they turned it up whereas the PAFs/T-tops were merely amplifying the signal. Thats right...

T-Tops were Alnico 5, yes.

Re: Rhoads Pickups

Hey guys, I have the ability to wind pickups... in fact Ive made over 400 in just the last three years. (I also made Kelly Garni's bass... so you know who i am) The Super '74 would be pretty easy to make, but there are a few changes I'd suggest, if you were going the custom route (Gibson don't sell ...

Thanks guys. When I say 'rush job', i mean more that I didnt have my usual 6-48month lead time to think about it! It was more like, think of the specs, come up with the components, and start straight away. My usual way of working is very different to that.

5.5 weeks. I got the call. We chatted and emailed back and forth for a week. I booked my flights, and started building. Not my fastest build (44 hours for two guitars), but certainly one of the most hectic. Couldnt work without a film crew there. They were always running late, or needed to set up, e...
